Each year on Thanksgiving Day, Trinity Episcopal Church opens its doors and kitchens to share the abundance of God’s love with our neighbors in a community-wide ministry of compassion. This year, we expect to prepare and deliver between 900 meals to individuals and families, the elderly, the homebound, local jails, the police department, and the fire department.
Behind each meal is a story of generosity. It’s an extraordinary picture of the Body of Christ at work — many members, one mission: to love and serve. As Jesus reminds us, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink” (Matthew 25:35). In a time when food insecurity is growing — with more than 3 million Texans depending on SNAP benefits and 1 in 7 households facing food insecurity — every act of service matters.
You can help by volunteer – come anytime between 8:30 – 11:30am on Thanksgiving Day (11/27). Other ways to help include a financial gift to cover expenses, helping to spread the word to people who either need a meal or might want to volunteer, and by praying for those serving and those receiving meals. Whether you’re able to come pack take-out containers, deliver meals, or offer prayers for those we serve, your participation brings warmth and hope to our community. Together, we’ll make this Thanksgiving a feast not just of food, but of gratitude and grace.
Yours in Christ, Rev. Dana
