Faithfully Carrying Trinity’s Mission Toward the 200th Year
Dear Friends,
As we celebrate Trinity Episcopal Church’s 175th anniversary, the vestry and I are mindful that anniversaries are not only moments of gratitude — they are moments of responsibility. We give thanks for the generations who built, sustained, and loved this church before us. Because of their faithfulness, Trinity has remained a place of worship, welcome, service, and witness in Marshall, Texas for nearly two centuries. We do not receive this inheritance lightly. We receive it with care.
Our calling in this season is to preserve the ministry and mission of Trinity so that this church will continue to serve God by loving our neighbors as ourselves, not only today, but long into the future. We are tending buildings, strengthening finances, nurturing leadership, and expanding service so that the Gospel may continue to be proclaimed and lived out in this place.
We are keenly aware that we stand between generations. Those who came before us entrusted Trinity to our care, and those who will gather here long after us will depend on the faithfulness of the choices we make now. With prayer, humility, and hope, we are looking ahead to Trinity’s 200th anniversary and beyond, committed to leaving this parish ready for whatever God will ask next.
May those who read this in years to come know that we loved this church, honored God’s mission, and sought — imperfectly but faithfully — to pass it on stronger than we received it.
With gratitude for the past and hope for the future,
The Rev. Dana M. Jean, Priest in Charge, on behalf of the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church
